Police have recovered a Toyota Allion stolen from former police inspector Trevor Young following a brazen daylight theft earlier this week, according to Antigua.news.
The vehicle was discovered abandoned in Scotts Hill with its licence plates removed, suggesting efforts were made to conceal the car's identity following the theft.
The incident took place on Tuesday at the busy intersection of Herberts and All Saints Roads. Young had briefly stepped out of the running vehicle to make a purchase, leaving the door open. Within moments, surveillance cameras captured a man entering the car and driving away as the former inspector shouted and attempted to intervene.
Video footage of the theft circulated widely online, drawing significant public attention to the boldness of the act, which occurred in broad daylight at one of the area's busier road junctions.
Speaking about the incident, Young acknowledged that he is ordinarily vigilant about vehicle security, but admitted this was the one occasion he had let his guard down.
As reported by Antigua.news, police have not yet confirmed whether any suspects have been detained in connection with the theft. Investigations are ongoing.
