The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) has issued a public advisory urging residents and sea users to exercise caution as it conducts a live-fire training exercise at its Crabbes Training Facility near Parham.
According to Antigua.news, the exercise is scheduled to run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will involve the use of live ammunition as part of routine operational training.
The ABDF is asking residents in nearby communities not to be alarmed by the sound of gunfire or loud explosions during the exercise window, noting that the activity forms part of the Defence Force's regular preparedness programme.
The advisory also applies to mariners. The ABDF is warning vessel operators and all sea users to steer clear of the coastal waters surrounding the Crabbes Training Area for the duration of the exercise in order to minimise safety risks.
The Defence Force emphasised that the drills are essential for maintaining military readiness and national security, and stated that public safety remains a priority throughout the operation.
