Cabinet noted that Lightfoot's death came just days before another NSWMA worker was reportedly struck by a vehicle while performing roadside duties on Wednesday morning. Ministers warned that the rising number of dangerous driving incidents poses a serious threat to public safety, particularly for frontline workers operating in vulnerable roadside environments.
Cabinet issued a direct appeal to motorists, urging them to exercise greater caution, patience, and responsibility behind the wheel — especially in areas where public workers are active along roadways.
