Building materials are being prepared for distribution to vulnerable residents in Barbuda, according to Antigua News Room, citing an announcement from Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party caretaker for Barbuda, Kendra Beazer.

Beazer shared the update in a social media post on Wednesday, framing the initiative as part of a broader commitment to ensuring access to safe and dignified housing on the sister island.

"Building hope, one home at a time," the post stated.

Beazer said teams are "working together to prepare building materials for those who need it most." The initiative, he added, is grounded in the belief that "housing is a right, not a privilege."

The post further indicated that efforts to support Barbudans would continue despite ongoing challenges surrounding the island's land system — a long-standing and contentious issue.

"Every piece of building material distributed is a step toward resilience, equality, and the promise that every Barbudan deserves a place to call home," Beazer's statement read.

As reported by Antigua News Room, the post did not specify a timeline for the distribution, nor did it indicate how many residents are expected to benefit from the initiative.
