Prime Minister Gaston Browne has advised Governor General Sir Rodney Williams to appoint Tiffany Anthea Lauren Strann-Peters to the Senate, while sitting Senator Joel Anderson Rayne has been elevated to the post of Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public Private Partnerships.
Both appointments take effect from 14 May 2026. The Office of the Prime Minister issued the official letter on 13 May, signed by Prime Minister Browne.
Rayne's promotion is notably swift — coming just one week after he was sworn in as a Senator. His appointment as Parliamentary Secretary was made under Section 75 of the Constitution, while Strann-Peters' appointment to the Upper House was issued in accordance with Section 28.
A swearing-in ceremony for both officials is scheduled to take place at Government House at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
