The Ministry of Health is reminding women across Antigua and Barbuda that free HPV testing at the Villa Polyclinic will continue later this month, offering those who missed the first screening weekend another chance to participate.

The Ministry has scheduled two additional testing dates — Saturday, 30 May and Sunday, 31 May — from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The initiative aims to reduce the risk of cervical cancer through early detection of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), one of the leading causes of the disease.

Women between the ages of 30 and 65 are eligible for testing, including those who have never previously undergone an HPV test. Women who have not had surgery to remove the entire uterus also qualify. Importantly, women who have already completed a pap smear remain eligible to participate in the screening programme.

Health officials are encouraging all eligible women to take advantage of the free service, emphasising that early detection enables timely treatment and intervention — steps that can be lifesaving.
