ST. JOHN'S, Antigua and Barbuda — Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision on All Saints Road that claimed the life of a National Solid Waste Management Authority employee on Tuesday, May 12.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Okeem Lightfoot of Swetes Village.

The incident involved a motor bus and Lightfoot, who was struck after the bus driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while travelling east along All Saints Road at a high rate of speed. The bus veered off the road and struck the worker, pinning him between the vehicle and a parked truck on the northern side of the road.

A medical doctor pronounced Lightfoot dead at the scene at approximately 10:56 am.

The driver of the bus was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for medical treatment.

The Police Administration extended sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are reminding motorists to exercise caution on the nation's roads and to adhere to all traffic laws, particularly speed limits.
