A 33-year-old Newfield resident has died after spending nearly two weeks on life support at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, following an incident reportedly connected to a political motorcade. According to Antigua.news, the man passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, with his condition dating back to April 26.

As reported by Antigua.news, the man sustained serious injuries after allegedly falling from a truck during an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party motorcade. He was subsequently discovered unconscious and bleeding from the eyes before being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Hospital sources indicated that medical staff last observed signs of life in the patient at approximately 4 a.m. During a follow-up check roughly half an hour later, however, staff found the patient unresponsive. Attempts to revive him proved unsuccessful.

The Coroner was notified following the man's death, and permission was reportedly granted for the removal of the body. Family members subsequently requested that the deceased be transferred to a local funeral home.

Authorities have not yet released an official cause of death. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
