Antigua and Barbuda's Independent Senator is set to be officially sworn in today at a ceremony at Government House in St. John's, according to Antigua News Room.
The official programme released by Government House indicates the ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the Independence Drive venue, with guests asked to be seated by 1:45 p.m.
Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams are expected to preside over the proceedings. The programme includes the administration of the Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Office, and Oath of Secrecy.
The ceremony will also feature an invocation by Ms. Makesha Greene-Cole, a spoken word presentation, and official remarks by the Governor General. Sen. Hon. Jamilla Kirwan is listed to deliver the response following the administration of the oaths.
Maurice Merchant, OBE, CN, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The swearing-in marks a further step in the formation of the Senate following the 2026 general election, which returned the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party to office for a fourth consecutive term.
