Senator Alincia Williams-Grant has been officially re-appointed as President of the Senate, beginning her fourth consecutive term at the helm of Antigua and Barbuda's Upper House of Parliament.

According to Antigua Observer, Williams-Grant was sworn in last Friday, and wasted little time in outlining her priorities for the new tenure. Speaking to the media following the ceremony, the veteran legislator signalled that strengthening the independence of the legislative branch would be a central focus of her administration.

Williams-Grant's return to the Senate presidency marks a significant continuity of leadership in the Upper House. Her repeated re-appointment underscores the confidence placed in her by her parliamentary colleagues, as she prepares to steer the Senate through what she has indicated will be a term defined by institutional reform and greater autonomy.
