Jamale Pringle was officially sworn in as Leader of the Opposition on Monday, joining four newly appointed Opposition Senators in a ceremony held at the recently restored Government House in St. John's.

According to Antigua.news, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams administered the instruments of appointment, formally installing Pringle and the Senators in their constitutional roles following the United Progressive Party's performance in the April 30 General Elections.

Pringle, the elected representative for All Saints East and St. Luke, now takes up his position as Opposition Leader in Parliament as the UPP embarks on rebuilding efforts in the wake of the general elections.

Three of the four Opposition Senators were sworn in at the ceremony: Antigua and Barbuda Workers' Union executive Chester Hughes, UPP Public Relations Officer Jonathan Wehner, and SJRE caretaker Ashworth Azille. A fourth appointee, Malaka Parker, was absent and will be sworn in at a later date.

Under Antigua and Barbuda's Constitution, the Opposition is entitled to four seats in the Senate.
