Deputy Commissioner of Police Louisa Benjamin-Quashie is representing the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB) at the 40th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP), currently underway in Paramaribo, Suriname. According to Antigua.news, it marks the first time Benjamin-Quashie is attending the conference in her capacity as Deputy Commissioner.
The high-level regional gathering, running from May 11 to 15, has brought together Commissioners of Police, senior law enforcement officials, government representatives, and security leaders from across the Caribbean to address the region's most pressing security challenges.
This year's conference is themed "Organized Crime: Implications for Regional Development." The official opening ceremony took place Monday at the Royal Torarica Resort in Paramaribo, where delegates assembled for the start of several days of strategic discussions and regional engagement.
Conference sessions are expected to focus on transnational organized crime, firearms trafficking, cybercrime, intelligence-led policing, artificial intelligence in law enforcement, and the strengthening of regional security cooperation.
The ACCP conference is considered one of the Caribbean's premier law enforcement gatherings and serves as a critical platform for collaboration among police agencies throughout the region. Officials say the discussions and partnerships formed during the event are expected to support collective efforts to improve crime-fighting strategies and address evolving threats facing Caribbean nations.
The RPFAB stated that its participation reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening regional and international partnerships, improving operational effectiveness, and promoting professional policing standards across the Caribbean.
