The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda has congratulated Shaquan O'Neil on his appointment as a Government Senator, calling the occasion a proud and historic moment for youth representation in the country. According to Antigua.news, O'Neil now holds the distinction of being the youngest Senator in the history of Antigua and Barbuda.
In a statement issued on Friday, the association expressed its pride in one of its own reaching the Upper House of Parliament. "On behalf of the Executive and General Assembly of the National Youth Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, we would love to congratulate our member Shaquan O'Neil on being appointed as a Government Senator today," the statement read.
The organization praised O'Neil's longstanding commitment to youth development and public service, highlighting his demonstrated leadership and passion for serving young people across the twin-island nation. "Shaquan has always shown tremendous talent and a passion to serve the youth, so we know the right choice was made," the association said.
The National Youth Parliament Association also expressed confidence that Senator O'Neil will continue to deliver meaningful contributions in his new legislative role. "We are eagerly looking forward to the continued contributions you will make in this new capacity," the statement concluded.
O'Neil was among 10 Government Senators sworn in on Friday during a ceremony at Government House, officiated by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams.
