Two men are set to appear in court next week after being charged with firearm and ammunition offences stemming from separate police operations conducted Wednesday morning in Freetown and Collins, according to Antigua News Room.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda confirmed the arrests form part of its sustained efforts to combat illegal weapons and gun-related crime across the country.

Cavel Brown of Freetown faces charges of unlawful possession of a modified flare gun and three rounds of 9mm ammunition. Police say the alleged offences occurred at approximately 4:05am during an operation in the area.

In a separate incident, 45-year-old Twini Payne of Collins was charged with unlawful possession of a Taurus G25 9mm pistol, a magazine, and three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Authorities have not released further details regarding either seizure but confirmed that operations targeting illegal firearms are ongoing.
