Students from the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Programme at Sir Novelle Richards Academy were celebrated during the 2026 Closing Ceremony, held at Freemansville Methodist Church.
Surrounded by proud families, educators, church leaders, government officials, and community partners, the ceremony recognized students who successfully completed vocational training in hydroponics, backyard gardening, and customer service. The event marked not only academic and vocational accomplishments, but also honoured the determination, resilience, and growth demonstrated by every student throughout the programme.
The GARD Centre, which partnered with Sir Novelle Richards Academy and the Ministry of Education's Special Educational Needs Department to deliver the programme, reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education and practical skills development. The centre emphasized its belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, build confidence, and work toward a more independent future.
Honorable Daryll Matthew, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, was among the distinguished guests and stakeholders who attended the ceremony, joining in celebrating the students' achievements and underscoring the importance of inclusive education and vocational development in Antigua and Barbuda.
The GARD Centre extended its appreciation to instructors, support staff, parents, sponsors, community partners, the Freemansville Methodist Church, and media outlets for their continued encouragement and commitment to student success.
