Prime Minister Gaston Browne used the first Cabinet meeting of the Government's new term, held on Wednesday, to deliver a direct message to his ministers: the administration must produce results, remain united, and stay connected to the people it serves.
According to Antigua.news, Browne addressed ministers and Ministers of State, stating that the Government's renewed electoral mandate carries heightened expectations and a clear obligation to improve daily life for citizens and residents across Antigua and Barbuda.
The Prime Minister outlined several priority areas for the new term, including road rehabilitation, improved water distribution, expanded housing development, strengthened healthcare and education, and upgraded public infrastructure.
"The people are looking for results," Browne told Cabinet members. "We must work with purpose, intensity and discipline to ensure that we continue improving the living standards of our people."
The meeting signalled a performance-driven approach for the new term, with Browne making clear that inefficiency and underperformance within ministries would not be tolerated. He urged ministers to demonstrate strong leadership and maintain an active presence in their constituencies and communities, while keeping lines of communication with the public open and consistent.
Browne also stressed the importance of humility and accessibility, encouraging elected officials to remain grounded and connected to ordinary citizens despite the demands of public office.
Senior members of the administration reinforced those sentiments during discussions, urging younger ministers and parliamentarians to continue developing their leadership and governance skills while keeping public service at the core of their work.
