Prime Minister Gaston Browne has appointed 10 new senators to Antigua and Barbuda's Upper House, including 22-year-old Youth Ambassador Shaquan O'Neil, who becomes the youngest person ever appointed to the Senate in the nation's history.

According to Antigua News Room, the appointments represent a blend of fresh faces and returning legislators. Among the newly appointed senators is Kendra Beazer, who contested the Barbuda seat for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) in the April 30 general election, though she was unsuccessful. Angelica O'Donoghue, Abena St. Luce, and Joel Rayne are also newly appointed to the chamber.

Several senators who served during the previous term have been reappointed. Alincia Williams-Grant returns and will be appointed Senate President. Also reappointed are Lamin Newton, who unsuccessfully contested the All Saints East & St. Luke seat for the ABLP in the general election, along with Colin O'Neil Browne, Phillip Shoul, and Shenella Govia.
