Newly elected Member of Parliament for St Philip South Kiz Johnson says her appointment as Minister of State in the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation is a natural extension of the advocacy work she began as an independent senator in January 2023.

Johnson joins Minister of Works and Housing Maria Browne as the two women currently sitting in the House of Representatives. She outlined a clear set of priorities for her new role: securing shelter for homeless residents, establishing a dedicated home for runaway teenagers, and expanding the Housing Assistance Programme Initiative (HAPI) across communities throughout Antigua and Barbuda.

The new minister described the portfolio as deeply aligned with her long-standing passion for women and youth empowerment, positioning her ministerial work as a continuation of the causes she championed before entering elected office.
