Newly appointed Minister of Health, Wellness, the Environment and Civil Service Affairs Michael Joseph has outlined a data-driven, community-focused agenda as he assumes one of the government's most expansive portfolios.
Joseph, who holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialisation in risk management, is no stranger to the ministry. He previously served as Minister of State under former Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, giving him direct familiarity with the portfolio's breadth and challenges.
The minister says his approach will be guided by evidence and engagement, prioritising dialogue with stakeholders alongside hard data to shape policy decisions.
For his first 100 days in office, Joseph has identified three immediate priorities: reducing emergency room wait times at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, reopening non-operational clinics across the country, and streamlining civil service application processing.
