Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey has congratulated Prime Minister Gaston Browne on his re-election, praising the people of Antigua and Barbuda for conducting a peaceful and orderly democratic process.
According to Antigua News Room, Botchwey issued a formal statement following the April 30 general election, saying: "On behalf of the Commonwealth of Nations, I commend the people of Antigua and Barbuda for their peaceful and orderly participation in the democratic process."
Botchwey said the election outcome reflects continued democratic engagement and stability in the country.
Looking ahead, the Secretary-General highlighted the importance of the ongoing partnership between the Commonwealth and Antigua and Barbuda, stating that the organisation values their collaboration in advancing "democratic resilience, sustainable development and opportunity for all."
