Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Lady Williams attended the St. John Hospice fundraiser, dubbed "Wash You Foot and Come," at Casa Palmadita, Fitches Creek, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. According to Antigua News Room, the event brought together supporters, volunteers, and members of the wider community in a spirit of generosity and fellowship.
The St. John Hospice operates under the patronage of Their Excellencies and continues to provide compassionate care and support for terminally ill persons and their families. The fundraiser was held to support the Hospice's ongoing work and mission.
Governor General Sir Rodney Williams delivered brief remarks during the event, commending the Hospice for what he described as its quiet but deeply meaningful service to the nation. He noted that the work of the Hospice is rooted in dignity, comfort, and love, and urged those present to continue supporting the institution through donations, volunteerism, and public advocacy.
Lady Williams presented a donation to Ms. Charlene Selkridge, Chair of the Planning Committee, on behalf of The Halo Foundation. The Foundation has supported the St. John Hospice over the years, in keeping with its commitment to care, compassion, and service to vulnerable members of the community.
Mr. Colin Maynard, the newest member of the St. John Hospice Board, served as Master of Ceremonies. Guests were treated to live musical entertainment featuring Armani Gomes on pan, Garrett Gill on guitar, and Jevonte on keyboard.
Their Excellencies expressed appreciation to Ms. Selkridge and the Planning Committee, the Hospice's board, management, staff, caregivers, volunteers, sponsors, and performers for contributing to the success of the event.
Beyond its fundraising purpose, the event also served to heighten public awareness of the vital role the St. John Hospice plays in providing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to families across Antigua and Barbuda.
