Jamaica's Opposition Leader Mark Golding has extended congratulations to Prime Minister Gaston Browne following the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party's (ABLP) sweeping victory in the country's general election. According to Antigua News Room, preliminary results confirm a decisive win for the ABLP, cementing Browne's place in the nation's political history.

"I extend warm congratulations to Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party on securing a fourth term in office," Golding said in a statement posted on X.

"Prime Minister Browne's return to office since first assuming leadership in 2014 reflects the continued confidence placed in him by the people of Antigua and Barbuda. I look forward to working together in the near future. I wish Prime Minister Browne and his government success as they begin this new mandate," Golding added.

The ABLP secured 15 of the 17 contested seats — a significant expansion of the party's narrow 9–7 margin in the January 2023 polls. The result marks a resounding endorsement from voters across the twin-island nation.

The main opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) retained just one seat, held by party leader Jamale Pringle. In Barbuda, Trevor Walker of the Barbuda People's Movement successfully defended his seat.

Browne's latest victory makes him the first prime minister in Antigua and Barbuda's history to win four consecutive general elections, having first assumed the office in 2014.
