The Antigua and Barbuda Workers' Union (ABWU) is set to host a full day of activities on 4 May to mark Labour Day, including a rally, a march through the capital, and a family fun event at Ffryes Beach.
According to Antigua News Room, promotional material released by the union outlines a programme beginning with a rally at 09:00 at ABWU headquarters on Lower Newgate Street in St John's. A march through the city will follow at 11:00.
The day's celebrations will then shift to Ffryes Beach, where a family fun day is scheduled to begin at midday. Organisers say the beach event will include games and rides for children, reflecting efforts to make the occasion welcoming for families.
Labour Day activities traditionally serve as a platform for highlighting workers' rights, the role of trade unions, and advocacy on wages and working conditions.
This year's event is being held under a theme centred on strengthening commitment to social development and equity. The union is encouraging broad public participation in the day's events.
