Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness has extended congratulations to Gaston Browne following the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party's decisive victory in the April 30 general election, which secured Browne a fourth consecutive term as Prime Minister.

According to Antigua News Room, the ABLP won 15 of 17 parliamentary seats in Thursday's polls, delivering one of the most commanding electoral outcomes in the country's recent history and extending the party's hold on government beyond a decade.

In his congratulatory statement, Holness also acknowledged that Browne's re-election makes him the longest-serving Prime Minister in Antigua and Barbuda's modern political era.

"Congratulations to Prime Minister-elect Gaston Browne on retaining a fourth term in office… I look forward to the continued strengthening of the partnership between our countries as we advance our shared regional priorities," Holness said.

The election result left the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) reduced to a single parliamentary seat, while the Barbuda People's Movement (BPM) retained its representation for Barbuda.

Holness' message forms part of a broader wave of regional responses to the election result, with Caribbean leaders expressing expectations for continued cooperation on economic development, regional integration, and shared policy priorities.

Browne has since been sworn in and his administration is now preparing to form a new Cabinet following the landslide victory.
