Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Kendra Beazer has expressed measured disappointment following his defeat in Barbuda, while pledging continued commitment to political life on the island. According to Antigua News Room, Beazer spoke candidly about the outcome in a post-election interview, defending the campaign he ran and expressing gratitude to his supporters.
"I feel a bit disappointed with the results here in Barbuda, but at the same time, I feel content in the fact that I ran a decent campaign and I raised the level of standard here in Barbuda," Beazer said.
Beazer was defeated by veteran Barbuda People's Movement (BPM) politician Trevor Walker, who retained the Barbuda constituency seat.
Despite the loss, Beazer took time to acknowledge those who supported him throughout the campaign period. "Thank you to the persons that voted for me… thank you to the persons that stood by me… just an overall sense of gratitude is sent out to them," he said.
Beazer maintained that the issues central to his campaign remain pressing concerns for Barbudans. "I ran on a truthful platform… speaking on the issues that have been keeping them back here in Barbuda," he said.
Looking ahead, Beazer made clear his intention to remain a fixture in Barbuda's political landscape, whether or not he contests future elections. "Politics has always been a love of mine… I will still be around where politics is concerned in Barbuda… the future for me is very much involved in politics," he said.
He also signalled openness to serving in other roles. "Given the opportunity to serve in any capacity, I would gladly welcome," Beazer added.
Beazer noted that he had been monitoring election results across Antigua, where the ABLP secured a decisive national victory. He said he was impressed by the party's mobilization and campaign strategy on the mainland.
