Rawdon Turner has secured a commanding victory in the St Peter constituency, retaining the seat for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party in Thursday's General Election, according to Antigua.news.
Turner, running on the ABLP ticket, captured more than 70 percent of the vote, decisively defeating United Progressive Party challenger George Wehner. The margin of victory underscored the ABLP's firm grip on the constituency.
Early ballot counts pointed to a clear lead for Turner, and that advantage only grew as tallying continued throughout the evening. Wehner was unable to gain meaningful traction among St Peter voters, as the ABLP's campaign operation proved dominant on Election Day.
The result is being viewed as a significant win for the ruling party as returns continue to come in from constituencies across the country.
