Michael Joseph of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has defeated Richard Lewis of the United Progressive Party (UPP) to claim the St. John's Rural West (SJRW) constituency seat, according to Antigua News Room.

With 65 percent of registered electors counted, Joseph secured 1,223 votes to Lewis's 903. Independent candidate Nigel Bascus received 2 votes, while 5 ballots were rejected.

The constituency has a total of 5,709 registered electors. The result represents a victory for the ruling ABLP in the St. John's Rural West seat.
