A 32-year-old Grays Farm resident has been remanded to prison following his appearance in court on multiple firearm-related charges connected to a weekend shooting incident, according to Antigua News Room.
Coteen Francis appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel and was remanded until July 22. Attorney Lawrence Daniel is representing him.
Francis faces charges of shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm in a public place, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police report that the incident took place at approximately 1:00 a.m. on April 26 along Queen Elizabeth Highway, near the establishment known as 'Timmy Times'. The area had been hosting an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party concert at the time. Authorities say a silver vehicle passed through the area before a 28-year-old man was struck by gunfire.
The victim was transported to hospital with injuries initially assessed as non-life-threatening. He subsequently underwent surgery.
