Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda – Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene has issued a call for full participation from Commonwealth member states at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, scheduled for November 1–4 in Antigua and Barbuda. According to Antigua News Room, the minister made the appeal during a welcome reception held Tuesday evening at the Copper and Lumber Store Hotel for a group of diplomatic representatives on an advance visit to the island.
Minister Greene urged the delegates, who represented several member governments, to impress upon their respective leaders the importance of attending the November meetings and making meaningful contributions to critical discussions — conversations he described as particularly significant given the current climate of global uncertainty.
The minister highlighted the theme of the upcoming summit, "Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth," emphasising that the gathering would provide a powerful platform for an organisation representing one-third of the world's population to send a clear message that its people matter.
The visiting delegation was also assured that Antigua and Barbuda is actively progressing in its preparations for CHOGM 2026. Officials indicated the country intends to draw on experience gained from hosting two major international events in recent years — the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States, held in Saint John's in May 2024, and the 55th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly, held in June 2025.
The advance delegation's visit concluded on Wednesday. Minister Greene thanked the delegates for their two days of engagements and for the feedback they provided to Antigua and Barbuda's organising committee as preparations for the landmark summit continue to advance.
