St. Peter constituency is nearing full completion of voter ID card replacements, with a 93 per cent completion rate, as national applications have surpassed 32,000 ahead of the April 30 general election. According to Antigua News Room, the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has processed a total of 32,271 applications nationwide, including 18,320 during April alone.
The figures reflect a sustained effort to update voter credentials across all 17 constituencies in the lead-up to polling day. Barbuda follows St. Peter with 80 per cent completion, while St. Philip North and St. Philip South stand at 76 per cent and 74 per cent respectively. All Saints West has reached 71 per cent, placing it among the stronger-performing constituencies.
By contrast, several St. John's constituencies and surrounding areas remain below 67 per cent, indicating slower uptake in more densely populated districts.
Activity has surged sharply following the official election announcement. On April 27 alone, ABEC recorded 289 replacement applications — a significant jump from the 73 processed the previous day — bringing the weekly total to 362 at that point.
St. John's Rural East recorded the highest number of applications during the period with 36, followed by St. George with 30 and St. Peter with 26. All Saints West also saw steady movement, recording 24 applications.
ABEC data further shows 42 new voter registrations over the same two-day period, suggesting continued interest from first-time voters and those updating their status before polls open.
With only days remaining before the vote, the figures point to strong overall progress but uneven completion rates across constituencies, raising the likelihood of continued demand for last-minute replacements in lower-performing areas.
