A nine-member jury retired Monday afternoon to begin deliberations in the high-profile murder trial of three men charged in connection with the killing of senior Customs officer Nigel Christian, according to Antigua News Room.
Saleim Harrigan, Wayne Thomas, and Lasean Bully each face charges related to Christian's death. The jury — comprising five women and four men — began deliberations at approximately 2 p.m., following a summation by Justice Rajiv Persaud that lasted more than four hours.
The trial, which opened on February 19, spanned more than two months of testimony before reaching this stage. The jury must now return separate verdicts for each of the three accused.
Christian was abducted at gunpoint from his McKinnons home on July 10, 2020. The case drew significant public attention given the victim's prominent role as a senior officer within the Customs service.
