Police have detained two male suspects in connection with a shooting along Queen Elizabeth Highway that left one man injured and several vehicles damaged in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, according to Antigua.news.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 28-year-old man from Grays Farm was in the area of "Timmy Times" when a silver vehicle travelling east to west passed by, followed by several gunshots. The man was struck during the incident.

The injured man is currently receiving treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for gunshot wounds. Medical staff have confirmed that his injuries are not life-threatening, though he is expected to require surgery.

Several parked vehicles in the vicinity also sustained damage as a result of the shooting. Officers recovered a firearm and multiple spent shell casings from the scene.

The Police Administration moved to reassure the public that, based on information gathered so far, the incident is neither gang-related nor politically motivated. Authorities also confirmed the shooting is not connected to the event held at the Rising Sun Grounds the previous evening.

Police have strongly condemned the act of violence and are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
