Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he feels "vindicated" following a tour of the near-complete Booby Alley housing development, a China-funded project that has faced years of delay and sustained criticism from the opposition.
According to Antigua.news, Browne made the remarks during a site visit, asserting that the project was delivered within its established timelines and on budget. He used the occasion to thank the People's Republic of China for what he described as one of the most significant capital projects that country has funded in Antigua and Barbuda to date.
The Prime Minister announced that a naming competition will be held to give the community a new identity, and called on future residents to take pride in the development by keeping it clean.
Browne indicated that the Booby Alley project represents just the beginning of a broader housing and community upliftment programme. He identified Gray's Farm, Green Bay, and Potters as among the communities targeted for similar interventions going forward.
