A refurbished playground in the Radio Range community is set to open this week, according to Antigua News Room, following a multi-feature upgrade aimed at improving recreational facilities for local residents.
ABLP candidate and Education Minister Daryl Matthew announced the opening during an appearance on ABS Television's 'Know Your Candidates' programme. "Perhaps this afternoon or tomorrow, I will be having a ceremony… to open a new playground and park up in the Radio Range area," Matthew said.
Matthew noted the facility had fallen into disrepair over recent years. "A park that had gotten in a state of disrepair over the last maybe five or six years," he said, adding that the site has now been upgraded with new recreational and fitness equipment.
"We've just installed our outdoor gym facilities. The swing, the seesaws, and so on, they're going on site today," Matthew said.
The upgraded facility is expected to benefit families and young people in the area while also providing a broader community space for residents.
Matthew described the project as part of a wider commitment to improving living conditions across the constituency, stating that such initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. He added that similar upgrades are being pursued in other parts of St John's Rural South as part of ongoing community development efforts.
