Workers employed at Cooks Landfill staged a protest yesterday, gathering at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre on Perry Bay Road to voice serious concerns over working conditions and outstanding payments owed to them.

According to Antigua Observer, the workers assembled to formally register their dissatisfaction with a range of workplace issues, including what they described as unfavourable conditions at the landfill site and unpaid dues.

Among the grievances raised, workers cited an infestation of rats at the facility as a pressing health and safety concern. "We have rats down there, a lot of rats," one worker stated, as reported by Antigua Observer, adding that the situation had become intolerable for staff on the ground.

The protest underscores growing frustration among workers at one of Antigua's primary waste management sites. The gathering at the Cultural Centre on Perry Bay Road served as a public platform for employees to draw attention to conditions they say have gone unaddressed.
