ABLP candidate Dwayne George has issued a forceful public statement rejecting what he describes as falsehoods made by political opponent Kelvin Simon, known as "Shuggy," and calling for a higher standard of conduct in political life. According to Antigua News Room, George responded directly to a series of statements made by Simon, asserting that the allegations were serious and would need to be proven.

"In any democratic society, political discourse is expected to be vigorous but it must also be responsible and rooted in truth," George said in his statement.

George made clear he would not respond in kind. "I will not descend to that level. I will not engage in character assassination or reckless attacks to win favor. That is not leadership, and it is not the standard I represent," he stated.

The candidate stressed that his focus remains on service and integrity. "My responsibility is to the people, to serve them with integrity, to speak honestly, and to remain focused on the issues that truly matter," he said.

George also warned of broader consequences when public servants are targeted with damaging claims. He argued that such actions affect not only the individual but also their families, supporters, and surrounding communities, while eroding public trust in political life.

"Those individuals are not just bystanders — they are voters, and they deserve better than the politics of distortion and division," George said.

He closed his statement with a firm commitment to the principles he says define his candidacy. "I stand firm in my commitment to a higher standard, one of truth, accountability, and respect. And I am confident that, in the end, the people will distinguish between noise and substance, between falsehood and fact."
