The government has defended its aggressive infrastructure programme, acknowledging public frustration while insisting that tangible progress is already visible across the country. According to Antigua.news, Prime Minister Gaston Browne made the remarks during the presentation of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party's 2026 manifesto Monday morning at the American University of Antigua.
With hundreds of millions of dollars already committed, officials say improvements to roads and water systems are well underway.
"We will continue… to fix every single road in this country," the Prime Minister declared during his address.
Browne pointed to what he described as unprecedented spending on water infrastructure as evidence of the administration's commitment to resolving longstanding supply issues.
"We have invested over $250 million… no other administration has taken this water problem seriously," he said.
Despite persistent supply problems in some communities, the Prime Minister urged residents to remain patient, noting that further upgrades are forthcoming.
"We have yet another water plant… a three-million-gallon-a-day plant… which will bring our capacity to 14 million gallons a day," he said.
Browne also highlighted the breadth of ongoing roadworks, stressing that no constituency has been left out of the national effort.
"It's not a single constituency that is not benefiting… every single constituency is currently benefiting," he said.
The Prime Minister framed the overall effort as a long-term national transformation rather than electioneering, telling supporters: "These are not promises made in abstract… they are work in progress."
