Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate for Barbuda, Kendra Beazer, has outlined a targeted agenda for his first 100 days in office, centring on improved healthcare access, emergency medical transport and road infrastructure.
According to Antigua News Room, Beazer made the pledges during a "Know Your Candidates" interview held ahead of the April 30 general election.
At the top of his healthcare agenda is the acquisition of a portable dialysis unit for Barbuda — a move he says would significantly reduce the frequency of medical emergencies requiring travel to Antigua. "First of all, we want to purchase a dialysis, a portable dialysis unit for Barbuda so that we can limit these medical emergencies on a weekly basis," Beazer said.
He also announced plans to establish a dedicated medevac flight service between the two islands. His team has already identified an aircraft for the purpose. "We want to put in place a weekly medevac plane… so that we can have a system in place for medical emergencies," he said.
Beyond healthcare, Beazer identified road conditions as a pressing concern, committing to begin infrastructure works shortly after taking office. "We want to have some committed road work commencing within 100 days," he said, adding that residents should expect to see broader improvements in place by the end of 2026.
Reducing the cost of inter-island travel also features in Beazer's early agenda, particularly for vulnerable residents who depend on regular trips to Antigua for medical treatment.
The Barbuda seat is expected to be closely contested, with Beazer seeking to unseat incumbent Trevor Walker in the upcoming general election.
