Two young men have been remanded to His Majesty's Prison after appearing in court on serious firearm and ammunition charges, according to Antigua.news.
Orian Carr, 26, of Pares Village, and Djarie Sheppard, 25, of Willikies, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday. Both were denied bail and remanded until April 28, 2026.
The pair faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and fraudulent use of a license plate.
Police allege the men were found in possession of a Hi-Point C9 9mm Luger pistol and seven matching rounds of ammunition during an early morning operation over the weekend.
As reported by Antigua.news, officers attached to the Willikies Police Station were conducting mobile patrols along Willikies Main Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, when they observed a blue Honda Fit travelling without a front number plate. The vehicle was stopped and searched in the presence of both occupants.
During the search, officers reportedly uncovered the firearm and ammunition inside the car. Both men were taken into custody at the scene, and the weapon and ammunition were seized as part of the investigation, which has since resulted in formal charges.
The men are expected to return to court later this month as the matter continues.
