Two men have been remanded to His Majesty's Prison after appearing before the court on firearm and ammunition charges, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda announced Tuesday.
Orian Carr, 26, of Pares Village, and Djarie Sheppard, 25, of Willikies appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday, April 21. Both were remanded to prison until April 28, 2026.
The two men face charges of unlawful possession of a Hi-Point C9 9mm Luger pistol, unlawful possession of seven 9mm matching rounds of ammunition, and fraudulent use of a licence plate.
The charges stem from an incident in the early hours of Saturday, April 18. At approximately 12:50 a.m., officers attached to the Willikies Police Station were conducting a mobile patrol along Willikies Main Road when they observed a blue Honda Fit travelling without a front number plate.
Officers intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search in the presence of both occupants. The search led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol and seven matching rounds of ammunition inside the car.
The firearm and ammunition were seized. Both men were arrested and subsequently charged.
