The three men standing trial for the murder of Nigel Christian each denied any role in the killing on Tuesday, delivering unsworn statements from the dock before Justice Rajiv Persad.
According to Antigua News Room, accused Saliem Harrigan alleged that key evidence in the case had been planted against him. Co-accused Wayne Thomas maintained his innocence, telling the court he stands by the account he previously provided to police.
The third defendant, Lasean Bully, told the court he has no knowledge of the killing and denied having any contact with the prosecution's main witness.
With the defendants' statements concluded, the trial is now set to move into its final phase. Prosecutor Clement Joseph is expected to begin closing arguments on Wednesday. Defence attorneys Wendel Alexander, Sherfield Bowen, and Michael Archibald are scheduled to follow with their respective closing submissions.
