Prime Minister Gaston Browne has launched a sharp political attack on opposition leader Jamale Pringle, arguing that Pringle lacks the competence to represent Antigua and Barbuda on the world stage.

According to Antigua News Room, Browne made the remarks during a campaign address, framing the upcoming election as a choice between proven leadership and what he characterised as unqualified alternatives.

"In these uncertain global times, the future of Antigua and Barbuda cannot be left to chance," Browne told supporters.

The Prime Minister went further, warning that the country "certainly should not be left to cannibalistic failures, underachievers, losers, and laggards."

Browne argued that effective governance demands international credibility, calling for "a government that is tried, tested, and proven… a government that understands the world." He added that such leadership must include individuals "with the competence to sit with any president or prime minister in the world."

Drawing on his own record, Browne declared, "I can sit with King Charles. I can sit with Trump. I can sit with any leader on this planet and represent this country with distinction."

He then drew a direct contrast with the opposition leader, stating, "Pringle cannot even sit with local leaders, much less regional leaders."
