ABLP candidate for St. Peter Rawdon Turner has hailed the revival of basketball and netball courts in Parham as a landmark moment for the community, using the occasion to defend his record and reaffirm his commitment to constituents ahead of the upcoming general election.
According to Antigua News Room, Turner issued a public statement marking the renewed use of the courts, which had fallen dormant for a quarter century. "After 25 years, life has returned to the basketball and netball courts in Parham," he wrote.
Turner gave the development a personal dimension, citing his own history with the facility. "I grew up playing on this court, so to see it alive again means more than words can explain," he said.
The candidate also addressed criticism over the pace of progress in the constituency, acknowledging that delivery of promises has not always matched expectations. "I will never apologize for working hard for the people of this constituency. Progress may not always come as quickly as I would like, and I may not always be able to keep every promise as fast as I want — but I will always remain determined to serve," Turner stated.
In remarks that appeared directed at political opponents, Turner took a sharper tone. "So let them continue running around the country, yapping away, instead of finding meaningful ways to serve the people they want to represent," he said.
He closed his statement with a firm pledge: "As for me, I will keep doing the work."
The comments come as political activity across Antigua and Barbuda intensifies in the lead-up to the general election, with candidates increasingly spotlighting community projects and drawing contrasts in their approaches to governance.
