A newly established Intellectual Disability Forum, created by Friends of the Care Project, has held its inaugural informational session, bringing together parents, professionals and advocates committed to improving support for individuals living with intellectual disabilities.
According to Antigua Observer, the event featured a lineup of speakers that included Kendra Telesford, a Canadian certified counsellor, and Dr. Kwasi Tonge, a board member of Friends of the Care Project, among others dedicated to advancing the welfare of those affected by intellectual disabilities.
The forum represents a significant step toward building a structured community network for families navigating the challenges associated with intellectual disabilities in Antigua and Barbuda. By uniting parents, healthcare professionals and community advocates under one platform, organisers aim to foster collaboration and share resources that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.
