The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has issued a strong condemnation of the destruction of political paraphernalia, including billboards and posters, following an incident involving a party billboard in Freeman's Village. According to Antigua.news, the party stressed that such actions are unacceptable across all political lines.
In a statement, the ABLP declared that the destruction, removal, and interference with political materials have no place in a democratic society. The party emphasised that elections must remain a process through which the people of Antigua and Barbuda can freely choose which party and vision they believe is best suited to deliver stable governance and national progress.
"Any attempt to disrupt or undermine that democratic choice is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms," the party stated.
The ABLP confirmed it is currently in contact with the relevant authorities to help identify those responsible for the incidents. The party is also appealing to members of the public to come forward with any sightings or information that could assist in identifying the culprits.
The party issued a direct warning to all those involved, whether directly or indirectly, as well as anyone encouraging or inciting such acts, calling on them to desist immediately.
The ABLP concluded by reaffirming that the democratic process must be respected and that political differences must never give way to destruction, intimidation, or disorder.
