The St. John's Rural East Branch of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has strongly condemned the removal and interference of campaign signs and posters belonging to Hon. Maria Browne, according to Antigua News Room.
The branch reported that a group of young men were seen driving through the constituency in a white Toyota Vitz, wearing red ABLP shirts, while removing the campaign materials. The branch described the behaviour as both unacceptable and unlawful, stating that it runs contrary to the principles of fair and respectful campaigning.
In a statement, the branch stressed that political expression, regardless of party affiliation, must be carried out with integrity and full respect for the law.
The matter has since been reported to police, and an investigation is currently underway. The branch confirmed that those responsible will be identified and held accountable.
The branch also issued a call to the wider public to act responsibly and uphold the democratic process, stating plainly that there is no place in Antigua and Barbuda for that kind of conduct.
