The murder case against a Lower Ottos man charged in connection with Antigua and Barbuda's first homicide of 2025 has been adjourned once more, as the file continues to sit with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for nearly a year.
According to Antigua Observer, 43-year-old Deon Lloyd, accused of murdering 35-year-old Javorn Williams of Old Road, returned to court this week only for proceedings to be delayed again due to the matter remaining unresolved at the DPP's office.
The case has now suffered repeated postponements, raising questions about the pace at which the prosecution is advancing one of the country's most closely watched criminal matters of the year.
Williams' death marked the first homicide recorded in Antigua and Barbuda in 2025, drawing significant public attention. Lloyd has been charged in connection with that killing, though the case has yet to progress beyond its current stage in the judicial process.
As reported by Antigua Observer, the continued delays stem from the file remaining with the DPP rather than any development in court proceedings themselves. No new date or timeline for resolution was immediately disclosed.
