A vehicle accident that damaged a utility pole has left residents across more than a dozen communities without electricity, after service along the Belmont #3 feeder was abruptly interrupted, according to Antigua.news.

The APUA Electricity Business Unit confirmed the outage was triggered by a broken utility pole resulting from the crash, forcing an unplanned disruption to customers across a wide section of the network.

Affected areas include All Saints Road west of the substation, Briggins, Grays Hill, Whenner Road, Upper Desouza Road, Upper Tindale Road, Belmont, Cashew Hill, Bendals Road, Golden Grove, Nut Grove, Bendals, and Bathlodge.

APUA dispatched technicians shortly after the incident to begin restoration work. Utility officials did not provide an estimated timeframe for repairs but assured affected customers that crews remain actively engaged in restoring service as quickly and safely as possible.

The authority apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience while repair work on the damaged infrastructure continues.

Unplanned outages caused by traffic collisions remain a recurring challenge for utility providers, often requiring emergency response teams to first secure damaged equipment before restoration efforts can begin.
