The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has announced that more than half of all eligible voters have completed the replacement of their voter identification cards, as the nationwide exercise continues to gain momentum.
According to Antigua News Room, an official report for April 2026 places overall completion at just over 55%, with several constituencies recording participation rates well above the national average.
St Peter stands out as the strongest-performing constituency, with 87% of voters having already replaced their cards. Barbuda and St Philip North are also performing ahead of the national average, posting completion rates of 76% and 75% respectively.
However, constituencies including St Mary's North and St John's Rural West remain below the 55% threshold, pointing to slower uptake in those areas. The Commission has indicated that efforts will continue to improve access and encourage participation in lagging constituencies.
Commission data shows that 5,575 applications were processed in April to date, bringing the cumulative total to 28,926 since the exercise began. Weekly figures reflect a notable surge in early April, with 2,894 applications recorded between 5 and 11 April and a further 1,604 processed the following week. Daily totals dropped to zero after 14 April in the latest report, suggesting either a pause in processing or a delay in data entry.
At the constituency level, St John's Rural West recorded the highest weekly total with 177 applications, followed by St George with 173 and All Saints West with 157.
The Commission has urged all voters across Antigua and Barbuda to complete the replacement process ahead of upcoming electoral deadlines, cautioning that failure to do so could affect their ability to cast a ballot.
