Antiguan soca star Claudette "CP" Peters has expressed deep gratitude after being honoured with an Icon Award from the Caribbean and African Women of Impact (CAWI) Honors. According to Antigua News Room, Peters described the recognition as a proud moment for both herself and Antigua and Barbuda.
"I am truly honored to have received this award," Peters said in a message following the announcement. She added that she wished she could have been present in person to celebrate alongside the other "beautiful, strong, powerful women" recognised at the ceremony.
The CAWI Honors recognises women making significant contributions across culture, leadership, and community throughout the Caribbean and Africa.
Peters reflected on the significance of the award in the context of her broader musical journey and her commitment to representing her nation. She noted that she proudly carries Antigua and Barbuda with her in all that she does.
"Thank you so much for celebrating my journey, for celebrating my music, and the work I will continue to do for my people and my culture," she said.
The soca icon added that she accepts the award with "gratitude" and "humility and pride."
